About

On May 29, 2024, the Sojourner Truth statue was revealed at the Sojourner Truth Legacy Plaza 173 years — to the day — after Truth was believed to have delivered her most celebrated speech, “Ain’t I a Woman?,” at the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention in Akron. The statue was created by artist Woodrow Nash.

We made history in Akron, Ohio, which is now home to the largest public art display of a Black woman in the United States.
